Climbing up a narrow street lined with food and specialty good stores – headed to Kiyomizu Temple – is very tiring. Especially when you’ve been walking miles and miles everyday subsisting on the least expensive food you can find. Umeboshi for breakfast and lunch, sometimes a snack, sometimes a hot meal – but when we saw these cream puffs, we had to stop and try them. LL got herself a green tea cream filled puff and mine was vanilla. LL was on a mission to try everything green tea/matcha related in Japan.
Puff itself seems to have been made out of wheat flour which gave it a firm texture, but it was still fluffy and yummy. Inside cream was very light and the green tea one had such a strong flavour that was really good. I enjoyed them both very much.
